Student who shot dead principal after ‘accusing him of blasphemy’ remanded in custody

A Pakistani student accused of killing his college principal after allegedly accusing him of blasphemy has been remanded in custody.

On Tuesday Charsadda District Court remanded Faheem, of 12th grade, in police custody for three days, over the incident in Shabqadar.

Faheem is accused of firing six shots at his college principal, Hafiz Sareer Ahmed, after being reprimanded for skipping classes to attend a dharna in Islamabad.

According to reports a video of the student’s arrested appears to show him justifying the murder by claiming Ahmed had committed blasphemy.

In the video he is believed to have said that he was told not afraid of disrespecting someone who had committed blasphemy, and he had been taught to kill.
