Imran Khan says insulting Mohammed should be same as denying Holocaust

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has said Western governments should treat any negative comment against the Prophet Mohammed the same as they treat negative comments against the Holocaust.

He called on them to penalise those spreading hate against Muslims by disrespecting the Prophet, using the same standards applied to those who deny the Holocaust.

In a thread of tweets, Mr Khan said Muslims cannot tolerate any kind of blasphemy against their prophet.
One read: “I also call on Western governments who have outlawed any negative comment on the holocaust to use the same standards to penalise those deliberately spreading their message of hate against Muslims by abusing our Prophet.”

He added that people who insult the Mohammed should understand the love Muslims have for their prophet.

Mr Khan further asked extremists groups in the West to apologise for deliberately hurting the religious feelings of Muslims.

The tweet comes after the radical Islamist party Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) was banned by Khan’s government under the Terrorism Act.

This followed violent protests by the party to force the government to expel the French ambassador over a blasphemous cartoon published last year.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had signed an agreement with the TLP in November agreeing to expel the French ambassador.
